Win a boutique 5 AA star stay for two on the Isle of Wight worth £1000

PUBLISHED: 09:10 03 January 2014 | UPDATED: 09:56 07 January 2014

Sitting high above the fishing harbour in Ventnor, The Hambrough restaurant with rooms offers fine dining with boutique accommodation by the sea on the southern tip of the Isle of Wight

All but one of the seven spacious bedrooms in the Victorian building have magnificent sea views over Ventnor Bay and have been awarded with 5 AA stars several years in a row.

Head Chef Darren Beevers and his Sous Chef Daniel Perjesi create modern, locally inspired dishes in the 35 cover restaurant. The size of the restaurant allows the chefs to use a majority of local produce. The daily catch comes from only three minutes walk away, eggs from the nearby farm, the meat from six of the island’s butchers and the vegetables are grown for the restaurant’s own specifications.

Darren, originally from Hampshire, works on a principle of three colours and three flavours in his dishes; any more flavours will confuse the palette and muddle the dish in his opinion. His vast Michelin experience has given him a great platform to create unique and visually attractive dishes showcasing the best of the Isle of Wight‘s produce.
