There are some fantastic restaurants and pubs in Basingstoke serving up food from around the world. We round up some of the best…

Bartons Mill

Head to this converted mill and feast on delights such as the catch of the day with chips, honey glazed ham, pie of the day or a 6oz beef burger with bacon and cheddar cheese. Breakfast is available on Saturday and Sunday with menu options including the vegetarian breakfast, smoked salmon and eggs florentine.

Bartons Lane, Old Basing RG24 8AE

Festival Street Kitchen

This Festival Square eatery is a must visit if you’re passing at lunch time. Street food has been revived across the country over recent years and Festival Street Kitchen certainly do it well. Expect to see burritos, burgers and a variety of Tex-Mex selections.

Expect a warm welcome and excellent Chinese cuisine at this Winchester Street restaurant. There are six set menus ranging from £12.80 to £34.80 per person. Also enjoy some mouth-watering starters - from fresh lobster to Mongolian Aromatic Lamb - and main courses such as sizzling mini fillet of steak and Cantonese roast duck.

The Bolton Arms

Another trip to Old Basing now, this time to The Bolton Arms pub, a quintessentially English pub serving good wine and beer and some honest grub. You might see pan fried sea bass, calf’s liver, pork medallions and steak and chips on the extensive menu.

91 The Street, Old Basing RG24 7DA

The Lime Leaf

If Thai is your go to, The Lime Leaf on London Street is well worth a visit (the Thailand Olympic cycling team certainly thought so). Expect authentic cuisine on the menu, with everything from grilled prawns and Thai fish cakes to soup and green curry.

Spicy Tadka

We’ve covered Chinese and Thai cuisine in this round up already, so for fans of Indian food, Spicy Tadka at Festival Place is the restaurant to visit. The extensive menu features north Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

The Crown at Old Basing

All dishes are prepared from scratch by the skilled chefs in this Old Basing pub and include honey glazed duck breast, slow cooked beef cheek and The Crown Burger (8oz beef burger or chicken breast with burger sauce, lettuce, tomato and chips). Be sure to save room for dessert with apple and pear crumble, lemon tart and a cheese board on offer.

Las Iguanas

It may be a large chain, but South American spot Las Iguanas is well deserving of a spot on our round up. Food is served at brunch, lunch and dinner with a huge variety of tapas and regular dishes on offer. Make a night of it and enjoy 2 for 1 cocktails.
