With late-night shopping, fairs, Christmas markets and plenty of food and drink, we’ve rounded up some of the best festive offerings in Hampshire
Southampton - 11 November-23 December
Taking place on the Above Bar precinct and Bargate Street is this year’s Southampton Christmas Festival. With a traditional German market, expect alpine themed chalets, bratwurst, mulled wine and stein beer. There will be more than 40 stalls selling authentic hand-made gifts.
Winchester - 20 November-22 December
Each year thousands head to this internationally-acclaimed market and ice rink. There are over 100 stalls offering Christmas goodies, decorations, bespoke items and some mouth-watering food and drink. Expect a bustling atmosphere and high quality exhibitors.
Portsmouth - 1-3 December
This Victorian Festival of Christmas runs from 10am-5pm each day where there will be over 150 stalls selling gifts. Head to Fagin’s Tavern for a traditional Christmas cake and more winter warmers. Keep an eye out for Father Christmas, dressed in traditional green colours.
Petersfield - 3 December
From 10am to 3.30pm, Petersfield will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland with stalls, entertainment from local schools and Santa himself making an appearance.
Alton - 3 December
Hundreds of stalls take over the High Street, Assembly Rooms and Community Centre with crafts, local produce and more on sale. There will be an entertainment zone, a giant snow globe and even a nativity petting zoo. The Christmas lights will be switched on at 3pm.
