Building work has begun on a brand new centre for national breast cancer support charity, The Haven. A full refurbishment of the beautiful grade II listed property in Titchfield, is now underway and will become The Haven’s fourth regional centre.

Local building firm, Three Valley, beat strong competition to secure the refurbishment contract, with work on the new Haven expected to cost £500,000, and last around six months.

The Haven team works closely with NHS partners to go beyond medical treatment, to help visitors and their families cope with the wider impact of breast cancer through one-to-one personalised, specialist care. The Haven, which uses professional therapists, provides completely free services, incorporating everything from nutritional and financial advice, to counselling, exercise and complementary therapies.

Pamela Healy OBE, The Haven’s chief executive, commented: “There are almost 3000 breast cancer patients in the Wessex region, and we’ll now be able to provide tailored, one-to-one support for breast cancer patients in our area, as well as their family and friends.”

The Hampshire Haven’s official opening date is scheduled for October 2015. For more information about The Haven, please visit www.thehaven.org.uk
