The Countrywide Great Tour in Hampshire
10:43 20 July 2015
This summer, there will be a 64-day cycle ride covering the whole coast of Great Britain. The Countrywide Great Tour is heading to Hampshire...
The Hampshire route
After leaving Brighton on the morning of 12 August, cyclists will travel through Sussex on the edge of the South Downs National Park. From there, they will ride through Portsmouth with stunning views of the Spinnaker Tower and the range of naval history on offer in the city. The day ends at Ryde Ferry Terminal after a short trip across the Solent. Find out more about Ryde here.
The next morning, Ryde bids farewell to all the cyclists taking part in the tour as they head for a loop of the island before hopping back to the mainland the same afternoon. Southampton is the finish line for this stage of the Countrywide Great Tour and you can find a selection of places to eat and stay in the city here.
Friday 14 August spells the last day of the Tour in Hampshire as cyclists leave Southampton at 9am. With the beautiful New Forest to navigate, participants will arrive in Dorset that afternoon.
