Marie Mills Easter solo show at Lyndhurst Gallery launching 5th April

Artist Marie Mills has just delivered her work for her Easter show at Lyndhurst Gallery in the New Forest.

The gallery holds a solo show for Marie every year at this time. This year’s show is titled ‘Singing in spring’ and features 20 beautiful floral canvases, each deeply textured and rich with botanical details. Whilst she usually paints at her studio in Mevagissey, Cornwall, this year Marie has based herself in the French Alps. Her family is now grown up and settled so she and her husband decided to have a ‘grown up gap year’. Taking the chance to see more of the world, they have rented a chalet in Chamonix where Marie can paint and they can each enjoy the winter sports they love. Marie says the timing could not have been better; they escaped the wet, miserable British winter for days of ‘relentless sunshine and regular toppings of snow’. The inspiring location has also influenced Marie’s painting. She says that ‘the organic form, textures and colours of the mountains, winter flora and lichens have been a wealth of inspiration with plenty logged and stored for future projects meanwhile inspiring the body of work for my Easter exhibition’.

There are 20 beautiful canvases in total. See them all in the gallery or on the website at: www.lyndhurstgallery.co.uk
