Eleven year-old Maya Garside from Winchester has been crowned Under 11 Biathlon Champion at the British School's Biathlon Championships held at Crystal Palace last weekend.

Eleven year-old Maya Garside from Winchester has been crowned Under 11 Biathlon Champion at the British Schools Biathlon Championships held at Crystal Palace last weekend.
Maya (below), who is a pupil at St Swithuns Junior School, recorded personal best times in both the running and swimming disciplines, winning the swimming event outright. She trains at St Swithuns School and with Winchester City Penguins and had reached the Finals at Crystal Palace following her success at a qualifying event in Aldershot. In the Finals she beat 56 other competitors from across the UK and hopes one day that she might represent England.
