Titanic and Cream Tea

Spoil yourself with an afternoon of culture and cream tea at SeaCity Museum. Take the guided tour of Southampton’s Titanic Story and then enjoy a lovely pot of tea and two scrumptious scones with jam and cream. Admission to the museum is included and these tours prove popular so book early to avoid disappointment.

The Chequers Festival

The Chequers pub is once again going all-out to celebrate great food and drink by holding their festival of the same name. The entire pub will be given over to a two-day celebration of fantastic Hampshire fare, with a local produce market, food demonstrations and tastings, live music and activities to feed, water and entertain foodies of all ages.

Circle of Life

Disney’s musical adaptation of The Lion King is roaring into Southampton with great prowess. Featuring a cast of over 50 actors, singers and dancers, all supported by a backstage team of over 100 people, the touring production is the biggest musical production ever to travel the UK. Immerse yourself in the majesty of the Serengeti Plains and evocative rhythms of Africa and join Simba on his epic journey to reclaim his kingdom. Summer’s End Picnic

Take the family to Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and say goodbye to the summer with a picnic. This wonderful evening of entertainment features an 80 piece orchestra playing a variety of music, including a Beatles Medley, High School Musical and Pirates of the Caribbean, and concludes with a spectacular firework display. Plus, Pops Incorporated UK will be on hand to keep the kids amused

Songs in the Spinnaker

Head to the Spinnaker Tower for an evening of live music in their Waterfront Café – open late across the summer especially for live music nights. At just 17, Eloise Keating is an immensely talented rising star with a sensational voice. Her repertoire consists of her own songs as well as covers performed with her own individual twist! Enjoy a few drinks and choose from a delicious menu selection to accompany the performance. Plus enjoy the stunning evening views across the harbour.

History of Britain

It’s the History of Britain as you’ve never seen it before. Join the critically-acclaimed Pantaloons Theatre Company for a breathless race through the centuries in this inventive open-air show. Harold II and William the Conqueror don’t see eye to eye, Henry VIII decides five marriages just isn’t enough and Queen Victoria is most certainly not amused. With songs, sketches and silliness suitable for all ages, expect mud, blood and stiff upper-lips!

Southsea Comedy Festival

The Southsea Comedy Festival kicks off in style with one of the few opportunities to see one of the UK’s most talented comedians. The fantastically hilarious Eddie Izzard will be headlining with his show, Force Majeure. Come rain or shine the event will go ahead as The Comedy Festival is being held within a special structure that can provide full cover should it be necessary. Presented by the Portsmouth Cultural Partnership, the Comedy Festival will run alongside popular family festival, the Southsea Show (August 1 -3).

Wartime in the Dorm

In 1939, Hinton Ampner became the wartime home for Portsmouth High School for girls. 75 years on, visit Hinton to discover an interactive exhibition of artefacts and memorabilia from that time. Marvel at wartime beds, clothing, diaries, photographs, school magazines and more. There are evacuee’s labels and a quiz trail for children - plus clothing to try on, gas masks and 1940s food and ration books to handle. Not to be missed.

Hampshire Pet Fair

This new and exciting event is for everyone who loves pets! Meander around a plethora of pet stalls, marvel at the reptile and exotic pets display and enjoy the bouncy castle. Miniature Mayhem will be bringing their menagerie of cute animals just waiting to be cuddled and then get up close and personal with the stunning birds of prey.

Romeo and Juliet

Set on sweeping lawns in front of The Vyne’s lake with the mansion as a backdrop, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men will treat you to an evening of romance under the stars in true Elizabethan fashion. Presenting the greatest love story of them all, Shakespeare’s original theatre troupe retains the same principles to this day, including an all-male cast, so look out for some wonderful cross-dressing
