The Flood Came Down In Romsey Town - A short story by Viv Blatchford

Steven the sturgeon, was born with an urgin’ to travel beyond, outside of his pond.

Then just by chance, it started to rain. It rained, and it rained, and it rained once again. The rain kept on raining and kept coming down, until it had flooded the fields and the town.

Steven the sturgeon, his pond over-flowed, it washed through the car park and down Greatbridge Road.

And so Steve was carried along down the stream, and off into freedom to live out his dream.

Where did he get to, and what did he do? For quite a long time, nobody knew.

Things got no better the town just got wetter. The rain was relentless, the houses defenceless.

So in came the firemen with High Volume Pumps, and hundreds of sandbags they piled up in clumps, in front of the houses and buildings and all, to keep back the rain which continued to fall.
