Orchard Gardens is a hive of activity with plenty to enjoy. As it acts as a resident’s home, they regularly choose what they would like to do. Residents regularly enjoy a range of activities including gardening, art therapy and music for health which proves very popular
Dinky Dancers, a local group of childminder and nursery children aged 3-4 years old visit regularly to provide fleet footed entertainment. Residents can enjoy interacting with the dancers and both young and old benefit from this. Anchor care homes enjoy numerous inter-generational projects, where residents can enjoy activities with schools and groups. Research has shown that this has a significant impact on well-being.
The team are dedicated to providing quality dementia care and knowledge at Orchard Gardens. Residents are able to make use of the OMI Table: an interactive sensory experience where games, music and social activities are projected on a table. It provides meaningful entertainment, especially for those living with dementia. Benefits include greater socialisation and communication and improved relationships with peers and staff.
Mealtimes at Orchard Gardens are good opportunities for socialising and Orchard Gardens also take great pride in the range of high quality, seasonally focused and nutritionally balanced meals available to residents on a daily basis. The catering team make an effort to get out of the kitchen and speak to the people that they cook for every day, finding out about personal preferences and dishes they particularly enjoy.
One of the residents recently commented: "The staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you. They are so caring and I enjoy talking with them."
Staff are passionate about what they do, dedicated to delivering personally-tailored care and are specially selected for their personal qualities. It's the small things that can make a big difference to the people in care.
In the most recent CQC inspection, published in March 2017, Orchard Gardens was rated Good in all five areas inspected and Anchor was named 'Residential Care Provider of the Year' at the prestigious Health Investor Awards in 2018 and celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2018. It operates on a not-for-profit basis, which enables reinvestment in its care homes.
